JAVIER HERMOSA-SÁNCHEZ  -  CONDUCTOR

Javier is a young Spanish conductor, passionate about music and the meticulous study of scores. In April 2022, he assumed the position of Principal and Artistic Director of the JOsM (Joven Orquesta Sierra de Madrid), where he has led three intense and varied seasons with dozens of concerts. Most recently, in January 2025, he was appointed Principal Conductor of the OSPAL (Orquesta Sinfónica de Pozuelo de Alarcón La Lira).

A CRESCENDO CAREER

Throughout his career, he has conducted orchestras such as the Máv Symphony Orchestra, Royal Concert Orchestra, Orquesta Clásica Santa Cecilia, United Europe Orchestra (Vienna), State Opera Plovdiv (Bulgaria), Joven Orquesta sierra de Madrid (JOsM), Orquesta Sinfónica de Pozuelo de Alarcón La Lira (OSPAL), among others, in various venues and auditoriums including Spain’s Auditorio Nacional, Auditorio Víctor Villegas in Murcia, Teatro Auditorio de San Lorenzo de El Escorial, Teatro Romano de Segóbriga, and the Mutzeum Magyar in Budapest. He has collaborated with renowned soloists like Rodrigo Leitte, Tito García, Matteo Giuliani, Francisco Fierro, Tere, among others.

For the 2025 season, he will make his debut conducting orchestras in Manchester (United Kingdom) and Chihuahua (Mexico).

Education, International Vision, and Social Commitment

Javier earned his Master's Degree in Orchestral Conducting from the Universidad Alfonso X el Sabio. He received a scholarship for the "George Hurst" conducting course in Sherborne, UK, in 2022, 2023, and 2024. He has had the opportunity to train with distinguished teachers such as Colin Metters, Jorma Panula, Rodolfo Fischer, Rodolfo Saglimbeni, Gunter Neuhold, Adrian Leaper, Robert Houlihan, Johannes Schaefli, Nicolas Pasquet, Miguel Romea, Huba Hollokoi, Uroš Lajovic, Dominic Grier, and Natalia Bassa in various countries including Spain, Switzerland, the UK, Austria, and Hungary. In 2021, he was a semifinalist in the 3rd International Conducting Competition of Estoril, Portugal.​

Since 2023, Javier has been involved in an exciting project through PROA+, a European program aimed at the social integration of children through music and participation in an orchestra, where he serves as the conductor of the program.

Musical Passion

Javier is also deeply passionate about music and cultural outreach, participating in various radio programs such as Cadena Ser and Onda Cero. On the latter network, he hosts a music dissemination program, ``Orquestando´´, with two monthly episodes, which he combines with a series of music conferences throughout Spain. He has family ties to composer and renowned accordionist Gorka Hermosa Sánchez and to the late Fernando Obradors, with whom he has developed several musical projects.

His upcoming engagements include musical direction of Igor Stravinsky's The Soldier's Tale, the premiere at the Network of Theatres of the Community of Madrid of Vivaldi's Concerto for Violin and Orchestra and Samuel Barber's Adagio for Strings, multiple concerts for the 2025 and 2026 season with different groups, with works Pictures at an Exhibition by Mussorgsky, Tchaikovsky's Violin Concerto, Mendelssohn's Italian Symphony, Sibelius's 3rd Symphony, Rachmaninoff's Piano Concerto No. 2 and Manuel de Falla's Amor Brujo, among others.
